Flippd Glossary: Key terms and definitions
This glossary covers all the key terms you'll see in the Flippd app, from inventory statuses to financial metrics.
Inventory Statuses
Unlisted -- An item you've acquired but haven't listed for sale yet. This is the default status when you add a new item.
Listed -- An item that's been posted for sale on one or more selling platforms.
Sold -- An item that has been sold. Flippd calculates your profit automatically when you record a sale.
Death Pile -- Unlisted items acquired 30 or more days ago that still haven't been listed. A signal that inventory needs attention.
Aging -- Listed items that still haven't sold after a set number of days. Slow listed items show up here rather than in the Death Pile.
Scratch Pile -- Items you bought to flip but ended up recycling, trashing, donating, or writing off. Tracked separately so they don't skew your profit metrics.
Deleted -- Items you've deleted. Filter your inventory by Deleted to find them, and use Restore to bring one back.
Financial Terms
Cost of Goods (COG) -- What you paid to acquire an item. Also called "cost" or "purchase price."
Gross Sales -- The total sale price before any deductions.
Net Profit -- Your actual earnings after subtracting cost of goods, platform fees, shipping costs, and any adjustments.
ROI (Return on Investment) -- How much profit you made relative to what you spent. Calculated as (Net Profit / Cost) x 100%. An ROI of 100% means you doubled your money.
Profit Margin -- How much of the sale price is profit. Calculated as (Net Profit / Sale Price) x 100%.
Platform Fees -- The selling fees charged by platforms like eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, etc. Flippd calculates these automatically based on each platform's fee structure.
Shipping Cost -- What you paid to ship the item to the buyer.
Adjustments -- Any additional costs or credits applied to a sale (e.g., returns, discounts, extra charges).
Cost of Unsold Goods -- The total cost of all items still in your inventory that haven't sold yet.
COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) -- The total cost of all items you've sold in a given period. Used in profit and tax calculations.
Reports & Analytics
YTD (Year to Date) -- Cumulative totals from January 1st through today.
Sell-Through Rate -- The share of everything you've tracked that has sold: sold items divided by all your unlisted, listed, and sold items. Higher is better.

Average Days to Sell -- The average number of days between acquiring an item and selling it.
Platform Performance -- A breakdown of sales, profit, and volume by selling platform.
Category Performance -- A breakdown of sales and profit by item category.
Tools
