How do I download Flippd?
Flippd is available on iOS, Android, and Web. Download from the App Store or Google Play, or access the web app at app.getflippd.com. Your account syncs across all platforms automatically.
How do I create an account?
Open the Flippd app and tap 'Sign Up'. You can register with your email address or sign up instantly using your Apple or Google account. No credit card required to start - the free plan gives you access to core features immediately.
How do I add my first inventory item?
Tap the '+' button on the main screen. Take a photo or select from your gallery, enter item details like purchase price and listing price, select your selling platform, and save. The whole process takes under 30 seconds once you get the hang of it.
Which selling platforms does Flippd support?
Flippd supports all major reselling platforms including eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, Depop, Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, Etsy, Amazon, and more. You can also add custom platforms if you sell on niche marketplaces. Each platform has its fee structure pre-configured for accurate profit calculations.
Do I need to connect my selling accounts?
No, Flippd works independently without requiring access to your selling accounts. Simply enter your items manually or import from a spreadsheet. This keeps your selling accounts secure and gives you full control over what data you track.
How long does it take to set up Flippd?
You can be up and running in under 5 minutes. Download the app, create your account, and start adding items immediately. If you're importing existing inventory from a spreadsheet, the import wizard guides you through mapping your columns to Flippd fields.
Is there a tutorial or getting started guide?
Yes! When you first open Flippd, you'll see an interactive walkthrough that covers the basics. We also have video tutorials on our YouTube channel and detailed guides in the Help section of the app. Most users find the interface intuitive enough to start without any tutorial.
Can I use Flippd if I'm new to reselling?
Absolutely! Flippd is perfect for beginners. The app helps you understand your costs and profits from day one, so you can make smarter buying decisions. Many new resellers say Flippd helped them avoid common mistakes like underpricing items or forgetting to factor in shipping costs.
Inventory & Workflow
How do I quickly add multiple items?
Use Quick Add mode to add items in rapid succession. Take a photo, enter key details, and save - Flippd remembers your last settings so you can add similar items even faster. For bulk additions, import from a CSV spreadsheet with all your item data at once.
How do I mark an item as sold?
Open the item and tap 'Mark as Sold'. Enter the final sale price, any shipping costs you paid, and the sale date. Flippd automatically calculates your profit including platform fees. Your dashboard updates instantly to reflect the sale.
Can I organize items by storage location?
Yes! Create custom storage locations like 'Garage Shelf A', 'Closet Bin 3', or 'Death Pile'. Assign items to locations when adding them, then filter your inventory by location to quickly find items when they sell. This is a game-changer for resellers with large inventories.
How do I edit multiple items at once?
Use bulk edit to update multiple items simultaneously. Select items from your inventory list, then choose an action like changing the platform, updating prices by percentage, moving to a different storage location, or marking multiple items as sold. Perfect for end-of-season price drops.
Can I crosslist items to multiple platforms?
Flippd tracks your crosslisting status for each item. Mark which platforms you've listed an item on, and when it sells, easily update all your records. This helps you maintain accurate counts of where your inventory is listed without duplicating entries.
How do I use the search and filter features?
Search your inventory by title, SKU, brand, or notes. Apply filters to view items by status (listed, sold, pending), platform, storage location, date range, or price range. Save your favorite filter combinations for quick access. The search is instant even with thousands of items.
What are SKUs and should I use them?
SKUs (Stock Keeping Units) are unique identifiers for your items. Flippd can auto-generate SKUs or you can create your own system. Many resellers use a format like 'EBAY-2024-001' to quickly identify platform, year, and item number. SKUs make it easy to find items and match sales to your records.
Can I add notes or descriptions to items?
Each item has a notes field where you can add condition details, where you sourced it, measurements, or anything else relevant. These notes are searchable, so you can find items by any detail you've recorded. Many sellers copy their listing descriptions here for reference.
Profit, Fees & Taxes
How does Flippd calculate my profit?
Flippd calculates profit by subtracting your purchase price, platform fees, shipping costs, and any other expenses from your sale price. The formula is: Sale Price - Purchase Price - Platform Fees - Shipping - Other Costs = Profit. Each platform's fee structure is pre-programmed for accuracy.
What platform fees does Flippd know about?
Flippd has up-to-date fee structures for eBay (final value fees, payment processing), Poshmark (flat 20%), Mercari (10% + payment processing), Depop (10% + payment), Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, Etsy, and more. We update these when platforms change their fees. You can also set custom fee rates.
How do I track shipping costs?
When marking an item as sold, enter the shipping cost you paid. This gets factored into your profit calculation. For items where the buyer pays shipping, enter $0. You can also set default shipping costs per platform to speed up data entry.
Can I see my ROI (Return on Investment)?
Yes! Flippd shows ROI as a percentage for each item and across your entire inventory. The dashboard displays your average ROI, helping you identify which types of items or sourcing methods are most profitable. High-ROI items are highlighted so you can focus on what works.
How do I export data for taxes?
Go to Settings > Export and select your date range (year, quarter, or custom). Export as CSV or PDF with all your sales, costs, and profit data. The export includes everything you need for Schedule C: total sales, cost of goods sold, and itemized expenses. Your accountant will thank you.
Does Flippd help with 1099-K tracking?
Flippd tracks your gross sales per platform, making it easy to reconcile against 1099-K forms. The dashboard shows your running sales total for the year. Since platforms now report at $600, having accurate records in Flippd helps you report your actual profit (not just gross sales) and maximize deductible expenses.
Can I track expenses beyond purchase costs?
Yes! Add other costs to items like cleaning supplies, packaging materials, repair costs, or authentication fees. These get deducted from your profit calculation. You can also track general business expenses separately for a complete picture of your reselling business profitability.
How accurate are Flippd's fee calculations?
Flippd's fee calculations are highly accurate for standard transactions. We regularly update fee structures when platforms announce changes. For complex scenarios like eBay promoted listings or store subscriptions, you can add custom adjustments. Most users find Flippd's calculations within a few cents of actual platform charges.
Mileage & Expenses
How do I track mileage for tax deductions?
Flippd has built-in mileage tracking. Log trips to thrift stores, estate sales, the post office, and supply runs. Enter the starting and ending odometer readings or use GPS to track automatically. The app calculates your deduction using the current IRS standard mileage rate.
What is the current IRS mileage rate?
For 2024, the IRS standard mileage rate for business use is 67 cents per mile. Flippd automatically updates the rate each year when the IRS announces changes. You can also set a custom rate if needed. This deduction can add up to significant tax savings for active resellers.
What types of trips can I deduct?
You can deduct mileage for any trip primarily for business purposes: sourcing trips (thrift stores, garage sales, estate sales, auctions), shipping trips (post office, FedEx, UPS), supply runs (packaging materials, printer ink), and bank deposits. Keep notes on each trip's purpose.
How do I categorize business expenses?
Flippd lets you categorize expenses into common Schedule C categories: supplies, shipping, software subscriptions, vehicle expenses, and more. This makes tax time easier since your expenses are already organized. You can also create custom categories that match your accounting system.
Can I attach receipts to expenses?
Yes! Snap a photo of receipts when you log an expense. Flippd stores the image with the expense record, so you have documentation if the IRS ever asks. No more shoeboxes full of faded receipts. You can also add receipts later by editing the expense.
How do I generate an expense report?
Go to Reports and select Expense Report. Choose your date range and categories to include. Export as PDF for your records or CSV to share with your accountant. The report totals expenses by category, making it easy to fill out Schedule C at tax time.
What's the difference between mileage and actual expense methods?
The standard mileage method uses a per-mile rate set by the IRS. The actual expense method tracks gas, insurance, repairs, and depreciation. Most resellers find the standard mileage method simpler and often more beneficial. Flippd supports both - track mileage and you can calculate actual expenses if you want to compare.
Does Flippd have GPS mileage tracking?
Yes! Enable GPS tracking in Settings and Flippd can automatically detect when you're driving and log your trips. You can also manually start and stop trip tracking with one tap. Review logged trips to categorize them as business or personal before they're added to your deduction total.
Importing & Exporting
How do I import my existing inventory?
Go to Settings > Import and upload a CSV file with your inventory data. Flippd's import wizard guides you through mapping your spreadsheet columns to Flippd fields. You can import from Excel, Google Sheets, or any tool that exports CSV. Preview before confirming to make sure everything looks right.
What file formats can I import?
Flippd accepts CSV (comma-separated values) files, which can be exported from Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers, or most spreadsheet apps. Save your spreadsheet as .csv before importing. If you have an Excel (.xlsx) file, open it in Excel and use Save As to convert to CSV format.
Can I import photos with my inventory?
Currently, photos need to be added separately after import. However, you can include image URLs in your CSV and Flippd will attempt to fetch them. After import, you can quickly add photos by opening each item and snapping or selecting an image. Bulk photo import is on our roadmap.
How do I export my data?
Go to Settings > Export and choose what to export: full inventory, sales only, expenses, or mileage. Select your date range and file format (CSV or PDF). The export includes all fields and is perfect for backup, tax prep, or moving to another system. Your data is always yours.
Can I export just my sold items?
Yes! When exporting, filter by status to include only sold items. You can also filter by date range, platform, or category. This is useful for quarterly sales reports or year-end tax summaries. The export includes sale price, fees, profit, and sale date for each item.
How do I transfer data to a new phone?
Your Flippd data syncs to the cloud automatically. Just download Flippd on your new phone, sign in with the same account, and all your data will be there. No manual export/import needed. This also means you can seamlessly switch between iOS, Android, and web.
Can I import from another inventory app?
If your other app can export to CSV, you can import that file into Flippd. Popular apps like Sortly, AirTable, or reseller spreadsheets all support CSV export. Our import wizard is flexible and can map differently-named columns to the right Flippd fields.
Is there a limit to how much I can import?
Pro users can import unlimited items. Free tier users can import up to their plan's item limit (currently 50 active items). If you're migrating a large inventory, consider upgrading to Pro before importing. Import happens in batches, so even thousands of items won't time out.
Subscriptions & Billing
How do I upgrade to Pro?
Go to Settings > Subscription and tap 'Upgrade to Pro'. Choose monthly or annual billing. Payment is processed through Apple (iOS), Google Play (Android), or Stripe (web). Your Pro features activate immediately after purchase.
Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
Yes, cancel anytime with no fees or penalties. Your Pro features remain active until the end of your current billing period. After that, you'll revert to the free plan but keep all your data. You can resubscribe whenever you want.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. On iOS, payment goes through your Apple account. On Android, through Google Play. On web, we use Stripe for secure payment processing. PayPal is not currently supported.
Do I pay separately for iOS, Android, and web?
No! One subscription covers all platforms. Subscribe on any platform and your Pro status syncs everywhere. So if you subscribe on iPhone, you'll have Pro on your Android tablet and the web app too - all with the same account.
How do I get my subscription receipt?
Receipts are sent to your email after each payment. For iOS subscriptions, check your Apple email receipts or go to Apple ID > Subscriptions. For Android, check your Google Play receipts. For web subscriptions, receipts come from Stripe. All receipts show the business expense for tax purposes.
Is the annual plan worth it?
The annual plan saves you about 30% compared to paying monthly. If you're committed to reselling, it's the better value. You get the same Pro features either way - it's just a matter of payment preference and savings.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your data is never deleted when you cancel. You keep full access to all your inventory, sales history, and reports on the free plan. You just lose access to Pro features like unlimited items and advanced analytics. Resubscribe anytime to unlock Pro again.
Do you offer refunds?
Refund policies follow Apple, Google, or Stripe's terms depending on where you subscribed. Generally, if you're unhappy within the first few days, contact support and we'll help you get a refund. We want you to be happy with Flippd.
Data, Privacy & Security
Is my data backed up?
Yes, your data is automatically backed up to secure cloud servers. We perform multiple daily backups with geographic redundancy. This means even if something happens to your phone, your inventory, sales history, and all records are safe and will sync to any device you sign into.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account. You'll be asked to confirm, and we recommend exporting your data first. Account deletion is permanent and removes all your data from our servers within 30 days. Active subscriptions should be cancelled separately through your app store.
Can I download all my data?
Yes, you can export all your data anytime from Settings > Export. Choose 'Full Data Export' to get everything: inventory, sales, expenses, mileage, and settings. The export is in standard formats (CSV/JSON) that you can open in Excel or import into other tools.
Is my financial data secure?
We take security seriously. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). We never store credit card numbers - payments are handled by Apple, Google, or Stripe. Our servers are hosted on enterprise-grade infrastructure with SOC 2 compliance.
Do you sell my data?
Never. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Your inventory and financial data belongs to you. We only use anonymized, aggregate data to improve the app. Read our full Privacy Policy for details.
What happens if Flippd shuts down?
In the unlikely event we shut down, we'd give users plenty of advance notice (at least 90 days) to export their data. You can export your full data anytime, so we recommend periodic exports as a best practice. Your data is always accessible to you.
How do I contact support?
Tap the Help button in the app or email support@getflippd.com. We typically respond within 24 hours on business days. For faster help, include your account email and a description of your issue. We're a small team passionate about helping resellers succeed.
Does Flippd comply with GDPR?
Yes, we comply with GDPR for our European users. You have the right to access, correct, export, and delete your data. We only collect data necessary for the app to function. Our Privacy Policy details exactly what we collect and why. Contact us for any data requests.
