Flippd can read the line items off a purchase receipt and create one inventory item per line. Press and hold + and choose Start with a receipt to photograph a new one, or open Tools > Proof of purchase, swipe a saved receipt right, and tap Create items. You review every line on the Review items screen before anything is created, and the new items are linked back to the receipt.
Step-by-Step
Open Tools > Proof of purchase, swipe a receipt to the right, and tap Create items. (From the Add menu, Start with a receipt first asks you to Photograph the receipt -- camera or gallery -- and saves it to Proof of Purchase before reading it)
On the Read this receipt? sheet, optionally turn on Also estimate list prices ("Looks up recent sold prices for each item. Adds a little time."), then tap Read receipt. This uses one of your daily receipt scans
Wait while Flippd reads the receipt (and researches prices, if you asked)
On Review items, check each line. The merchant and receipt date are at the top, and any receipt-level custom fields appear under Applied to every item. For each line you can edit the Item name, Cost each, Qty, and Estimated list price, tap a custom field chip to correct it, or tap Price it to look up a price for that line. Untick any line you don't want
Check "Total cost of selected items" and tap Create N items
You'll see "N items created and linked to this receipt" with a View items shortcut
What gets created
One Unlisted item per receipt line, with the line's quantity on that single record
Cost = unit price × quantity
Date Acquired = the receipt date (or today if it has none), and the item is filed under that year
Source = the merchant name; brand when printed on the line; the estimated list price if you asked for one
A store SKU or model number goes into a matching custom field if you've defined one, otherwise into the notes. Other custom fields you've defined are read from the receipt too
Good to Know
Daily limits. Reading receipts into inventory is limited to 3 per day on the free plan and 50 per day with Pro, separate from the expense-side receipt scan limit. At the limit you'll see "Daily receipt scan limit reached. Upgrade to Flippd Pro for higher limits." A read that fails doesn't count.
The free-plan inventory cap still applies. Each created item counts toward it.
Up to 40 lines per receipt. Longer receipts show "This receipt had more lines than we can read at once. Only the first ones are shown."
Non-product lines are hidden. Tax, fees, warranties, discounts, and totals are never shown as items.
Price estimates stop after the first 15 product lines; the rest are created without a list price.
Reading a receipt twice creates duplicates. If a receipt already has linked items, the confirmation warns "Reading it again can create duplicates."
The receipt is kept regardless. Starting from a photo saves the receipt to Proof of Purchase before the read, so you keep the image even if you abandon the review.
Photos only. Use a clear photo of the itemized section; PDF receipts can't be read.
