Etsy Fee Structure Explained
Listing Fee
$0.20 per listing, lasting four months or until the item sells. Multi-quantity listings are charged another $0.20 each time an additional unit sells and the listing auto-renews.
Transaction Fee
6.5% of the total order amount — including the item price, shipping charged to the buyer, and gift wrapping. This is Etsy's core selling fee.
Payment Processing & Offsite Ads
Etsy Payments charges US sellers 3% + $0.25 per order. If a sale comes from an Offsite Ad, add 15% (or 12% for shops over $10,000/year in sales, where the program is mandatory).
Tips to Reduce Etsy Fees
Build All Four Fees Into Your Price
Listing + transaction + processing typically lands around 10-11% plus $0.45 on a modest order. Price with the full stack in mind — not just the 6.5% everyone remembers.
Watch the Offsite Ads Threshold
Once your shop passes $10,000 in trailing-12-month sales, Offsite Ads become mandatory at 12% per attributed sale. Factor that into margins as you grow — it can arrive as a surprise.
Track Renewal Fees on Slow Movers
A $0.20 listing fee sounds tiny, but items that renew every four months for a year cost $0.60+ before ever selling. Knowing per-item carrying costs shows which inventory deserves a price cut or a different platform.
